1. What is a PBX?
A PBX (Private Branch Exchange) previously known as a PABX, is a small telephone switch owned by a company or an organization. Companies purchase PABX's to reduce the total number of telephone lines they need to lease from the telecommunications provider. Without the use of a PBX, a company would need to lease one telephone line for every employee within an organization.
With a PBX system, the company only needs to lease as many lines from your telecommunications supplier as the maximum number of employees that will be making outside calls at one time. This is usually around 10% of the number of extensions.
2. How long can I keep my PBX phone system before I need to upgrade?
A PABX system does not necessarily have a shelf life, but it can become redundant with improving technology or problematic when kept too long after its expected lifespan. Therefore, you can keep your office phone system for as long as the current technology or connectivity allows however, as your system ages past its expected useful life it is more likely to present with service and maintenance issues, for this reason we always recommended keep

6. Do PABX systems require servicing and how will a Service Agreement benefit me?
PBX phone systems do not necessarily require regular servicing as there are no wear and tear parts, however PBX Service Level Agreements benefit organisations as they cover technical callouts and remote support to assist to with among other things; programming of the switchboard system and accommodating a changing environment.
7. What is the length of the rental should I opt to rent the PBX equipment?
PABX rentals can be taken over 12, 24, 36, 48 or 60 month periods. Our PABX clients usually opt for the 36 and 60 month periods.
8. Can I use VoIP and/or Telkom lines with my PABX phone system?
